Korea Liberation Day

August 15This Korean holiday commemorates the surrender of Japan to the Allies in 1945, liberating Korea from Japan's 35-year occupation. The day also commemorates the formal proclamation of the Republic of Korea in South Korea in 1948, but it is a national holiday in both Koreas.
