Lev Tolstoi

(formerly Astapovo), an urban-type settlement, the center of Lev Tolstoi Raion, Lipetsk Oblast, RSFSR. A railroad junction of lines to Volovo, Troekurovo, Ranenburg, and Elets. Lev Tolstoi has a dairy, a subsidiary of the Moscow Sokol Garment Company, plants producing silicate brick, and railroad transport enterprises. L. N. Tolstoy died in Astapovo in 1910, and there is a memorial Tolstoy museum in the settlement.
