Special Features:Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center celebrates the accomplishments of the historic expedition, focusing on the challenges faced in trying to portage the Great Falls of the Missouri River and on Thomas Jefferson's vision for expanding the American West. Forest's Rocky Mountain Division includes rugged mountain peaks that often have snow for 10 months of the year; the Jefferson Division comprises six distinct mountain ranges. A segment of the 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail passes through the forest (see separate entry in national trails section).
