Korekawa

Korekawa

a peat bog in North Japan (Aomori prefecture, Honshu Island), the location of a late Neolithic site. According to pottery type, the finds have been dated to the very late Jomon. Numerous wood articles (some showing traces of varnishing), utensils, bows, and wooden swords have been found. The shape of the swords suggests that this Neolithic culture, which occurred late in time, was contemporary with the early metal culture of southern Japan.
