an urban-type settlement in Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR, on the left bank of the Vychegda River. A railroad station (Nizovka) on the Kotlas-Mikun’ line, 30 km east of Kotlas. Population, 33,000 (1971).

Koriazhma is the site of the Kotlas Paper and Pulp Combine; the city also produces building materials. Its educational institutions include a general-technical branch of the Arkhangel’sk Forestry Institute, a branch of the Sokol’skii Paper and Pulp Technicum, and a branch of the Severodvinsk Polytechnic Technicum.
