Patient discussion about bipolar II

Q. What is Bipolar Ii Disorder, I have never heard of it with the ii? A. i'm sorry to hear...it is difficult to diagnose because it doesn't have a major effect on life. it's like you are in a bad mood all the time.
what the psychiatrists said about Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)?
it sounds a bit extreme but it is a very efficiant treatment for bipolar disorder. maybe it can help bipolar II?
ECT is a psychiatric treatment that uses an electrical current to cause a brief seizure of the central nervous system while the patient is under anesthesia. Studies have repeatedly found that ECT is the most effective treatment for depression that is not relieved with medications.

Q. 14 yr old has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder II My next door neighbor's daughter whose is 14 has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder II. Her father and mother are divorced and her mother is also bipolar. She was recently living with her mother who does not work allegedly due to her mental problems, and is basically a ward of the state. She is now back with her father primarily due to her mother lacking the capability to care for her. Her mother constantly uses the excuse that since she is Bipolar she can’t work. It seems to me that this alleged condition can be misused. A person diagnosed with this condition has an easy out for anything they may do. Like a child can start using drugs and say to herself,”Oh wasn’t my fault, I was in a manic stage at the time, it it’s the fault of my condition." If a person doesn't take responsibility for their own actions and admit that they made a mistake aren't they bound to repeat that mistakes and blame their error in judgment on their alleged condition? Am I looking reasonable?A. Methinks all these brain disorders have everything to do with a lack of copper. With all our modern technology and artificial fertilizers and processing of foods, the food has become so depleted of minerals that our bodies and brains have become so depleted that we cannot even function properly. Start taking kelp, calcium magnesium, cod liver oil, flax seed oil, and raw apple cider vinegar. This will bring healing and normal function to the body systems. The emotions will calm down and be more manageable. If you are taking a vitamin with more manganese than copper it will add to the dysfunction. Don't waste your money. There you are! Some solutions rather than more rhetoric about the problem.

Q. What is the difference between bipolar disorder i and ii and schizophrenia? I have had bipolar disorder for about 10 yrs. and my bad cycles are about two yrs apart, mini manic phases are anywhere from five a day to sometimes five a week, it varies. I have been on so many types of meds but eventually they all quit working. My cycles seem to becoming closer together. I am 36 yrs. old. I do not really know the difference between them.A. Yeah, I was diagnosed with bipolar (with psychotic symptoms), my brother with paranoid schizophrenia and my sister with schizoaffective disorder. If it's worth anything, my other brother was diagnosed with dysthymia (low grade depression or flat mood) while a teenager but i don't think he lets that diagnosis affect him and takes no medication and my final sibling wasn't diagnosed with anything but I hear from my other sibling he can't control his liquor. I think every one has problems, they just manifest themselves in different ways. It's not so much the diagnosis, but understanding yourself and where you stand on the spectrum of mental health. I think schizophrenia is seen as the most severe but it has it's benefits over bipolar and vice versa.
