Nansen Cordillera

Nansen Cordillera

an underwater ridge thought to lie in the Arctic Ocean between the northeastern part of Greenland and Spitsbergen. Its possible existence was first suggested by F. Nansen in the early 20th century. Subsequent explorations, including Soviet expeditions on the Ob’ and Lena from 1957 to 1962, did not confirm the existence of a complete ridge in this area. In addition to individual uplifts, deep depressions, such as the Lena Trough, were discovered.
