Arneth's index

[′är‚nets ‚in‚deks] (histology) A system for dividing peripheral blood granulocytes into five classes according to the number of nuclear lobes, the least mature cells being tabulated on the left, giving rise to the terms “shift to left” and “shift to right” as an indication of granulocytic immaturity or hypermaturity respectively. Also known as Arneth's classification; Arneth's count; Arneth's formula.
