Lozva
Loz’va
a river in northern Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR; a left arm of the Tavda River (Ob’ basin). Length, 637 km; basin area, 17,800 sq km. It rises on the eastern slopes of the Poiasovyi Kamen’ Range (Northern Urals) and flows southeast among the swamps of the West Siberian Plain. It is fed in various ways, but predominantly by snow. The average water discharge 187 km from the mouth is approximately 70 cu m per sec. The Loz’va freezes in October or early November, thawing in late April or early May. The largest tributaries are the Pynovka, Bol’shaia Evva, and Ponil on the left and the Ivdel’ on the right. It is navigable from the mouth of the Ivdel’.
