Krasnodar Reservoir

built on the Kuban’ River in Krasnodar Krai, RSFSR, for irrigation and flood control. Area, 400 sq km. Volume, 2.35 cu km (3.1 cu km if the antiflood prism is included). Length, 40 km; maximum width, 15 km; average depth, 6 m. The Krasnodar Reservoir has existed since 1973, when engineers filled it with water for the first time. Its level varies but never exceeds 8 m. The reservoir was built to ensure seasonal control of the water flow.
