Netherlands Antillean Guilder

Netherlands Antillean Guilder

The currency of Netherlands Antilles. The currency traces its origins to the 18th century, but took its current name in 1952. Throughout most of its history, it was pegged to the Dutch guilder. However, after the occupation of the Netherlands during World War II, it switched the peg to the U.S. dollar. It has maintained this peg at different values ever since. It is known colloquially as the florin.
