Krasnogorsk

 

a city (until 1940, a settlement) in Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. It is situated in the valley of the Ban’ka River, on the Volokolamsk Highway, 22 km west of Moscow. Railroad station (Pavshino) on the Moscow-Rzhev line; population, 66,-000 (1972). Krasnogorsk has a plant for the production of cameras, a combine for the manufacture of thermally insulated gypsum wares, an optical instruments technicum, and a medical school.

a city (since 1947) in Tomari Raion, Sakhalin Oblast, RSFSR. It is a port on the Tatar Strait, 50 km north of the IPinsk railroad station. Ship repair is carried on here. The city also has a combine for the production of wooden containers and a logging and timber distribution establishment.
