Krasnyi Arkhiv

 

(Red Archives), scientific historical journal published in Moscow from 1922 to 1941 first by the Central Archives of the RSFSR and USSR and later by the Central Archival Administration of the USSR and the RSFSR.

The journal was published six times annually, although from 1922 to 1924 it appeared irregularly. There were 106 issues in all. Krasnyi arkhiv published archival materials on the history of the USSR (including the pre-October period), the Bolshevik Party, the Great October Socialist Revolution, the Civil War of 1918–20, socialist construction in the USSR, and international relations. It also published materials pertaining to the life and work of outstanding figures in the Communist Party and the Soviet state. M. N. Pokrovskii played an important role in the founding and work of the journal. The following party workers and historians contributed to the journal: V. V. Adoratskii, N. F. BePchikov, S. N. Valk, B. P. Koz’min, N. K. Krupskaia, V. V. Maksakov, N. L. Meshcheriakov, V. I. Nevskii, V. I. Picheta, F. A. Rotshtein, B. E. Syroechkovskii, E. V. Tarle, and E. M. laroslavskii.
