Kraus-type radio telescope

Kraus-type radio telescope

(krowss) A radio telescope consisting of a long thin flat reflector that can be tilted about its long horizontal axis and that reflects radiation from the sky onto a large fixed curved reflector that forms part of a paraboloid. The radiation is collected at the focus of the paraboloid by the feed (see dish). The telescope thus achieves a large collecting area that can be steered in one direction.
