membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis type 2

A condition that is much less common than MPGN 1, but similar clinically; in type 2, the glomerular membrane is more permeable to protein and blood cells.
Clinical findings
Nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome; often follows upper respiratory tract infection; less often linked to partial lipodystrophy.
Prognosis
Poor; may recur post-transplant.
