membranous pharyngitis

A nonspecific term for any pharyngitis characterised by inflammation and pseudomembrane formation, which occurs in:
(1) Acute necrotising ulcerative gingivitis, see there;
(2) Acute ulceromembranous pharyngitis; 
(3) Diphtheria, see there.
