Established: Authorized on October 12, 1976.
Location:In east-central Tennessee. From Nashville and west, take I-40 to US 127 north. From Knoxville and east, take I-40 to US 27 north. Both US 27 and US 127 run north and south and connect with TN 62 that skirts the northern edge of the area.
Facilities:Undeveloped campground, picnic area, rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit.
Activities:Camping, hiking, swimming, boating, kayaking, whitewater paddling, fishing, hunting, climbing, interpretive programs.
Special Features:The Obed River and its two main tributaries, Clear Creek and Daddy's Creek, cut into the Cumberland Plateau of East Tennessee, providing some of the most rugged scenery in the Southeast. Forty-five miles of streams are protected within the park, offering Class II through IV whitewater.
