Liberman, Alex (Alexander Semeonovitch)

(1912– ) artist, fashion editor; born in Kiev, Russia. Educated in England and France, he moved to New York to become art director of Vogue (1941). As art director (1943–62) and then editorial director (1962) of Condé Nast Publications, he oversaw such prestigious magazines as House and Garden and Vanity Fair. He was also a noted photographer, painter, and sculptor.
