Kronotskii Gulf

a gulf of the Pacific Ocean, off the east coast of Kamchatka Peninsula between the Shipunskii and Kronotskii peninsulas. Length, 68.5 km; width at the entrance, 231 km; maximum depth, 1,500 m. The banks are mostly low-lying but are steep in places. Tides are mixed, with a range of approximately 2 m. The gulf freezes in winter.
