Mineral’nye Vody

 

a city (before 1920, a settlement) in Stavropol’ Krai, RSFSR. Located in the Kuma Valley; a station on the Armavir-Prokhladnaia railroad line.

An electrified railroad line extends from Mineral’nye Vody to Kislovodsk, a distance of 64 km. The city’s airport serves the health resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters region. Population, 59,000 (1973); in 1939 it was 31,000. Enterprises producing railroad equipment and building materials operate in Mineral’-nye Vody. The local food-processing industry includes a creamery, a gelatin plant, and a meat-packing plant. Also located in the city are the Suvenir Plant and a music school.
