Krucheniuk, Petr Aksent’evich

 

Born June 29 (July 12), 1917, in the village of Plot’, in present-day Rybnitsa Raion. Soviet Moldavian writer. Member of the CPSU since 1942; participant in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45.

Krucheniuk graduated from the M. Gorky Institute of Literature in 1958. His first collection of poetry In the Rays of Life was published in 1939. The Political Directorate of the Southern Front published Krucheniuk’s collection Poetry at the Front (in Russian) in 1942. After the war his collections Fresh Furrows (1948), The Advent of Spring (1951), and We Have Friends (1960) appeared in print. Krucheniuk also wrote several collections of publicistic articles, including From Generation to Generation (1960) and Talks With People (1965). In 1970 his prose work Volleys was published. Krucheniuk has been awarded six orders and various medals.
