Marin, Ivan Nikitovich

Born Jan. 5 (18), 1905, in Pereslavl’-Zalesskii. Soviet Russian actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1975). Member of the CPSU since 1943.

Marin made his debut in 1925 and joined the company of the Tambov Drama Theater in 1939. His roles have included Proko-pych in Deviatov’s In Lebiazh’e, Zabrodin in Shtok’s Leningrad Prospect, Kovalev in Vasil’ev’s The Very Last Day, Perchikhin in Gorky’s Smug Citizens, and Shmaga and Schastlivtsev in Ostrov-skii’s Guilty Though Guiltless and The Forest, respectively. He has also played the title role in Molière’s Tartuffe and the part of Kirill Sergeevich in Korneichuk’s The Heart’s Remembrance. He has appeared in such motion pictures as Once Upon a Time There Were an Old Man and an Old Woman, The Tenth Step, and The Hottest Month.

Marin received the State Prize of the USSR in 1952.
