Narodni Sovet

Narodni Sovet

 

a provisional body formed among Slovene political parties in August 1918, at a time of increasing political crisis in Austria-Hungary and intensified struggle over the formation of national successor states, including a unified Yugoslav state.

The Narodni Sovet included leaders of the Slovene People’s Party, the Slovene Liberal Party, and several Slovene political societies. The Slovene Social Democratic Party also agreed to cooperate with the Narodni Sovet. A. Koroŝec became chairman of the Narodni Sovet. In October 1918, the Narodni Sovet joined the Popular Vece (assembly) of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes.
