Area, approximately 5,000 sq km. Population, 889,700 (1971). Minho includes the districts of Viana do Castelo and Braga and is a densely populated, intensively cultivated part of the country. The region includes minor industrial centers in Brāga, Guimaraes, Fafe, and Barcelos, and it is a main source of Portuguese emigration. |
