AAMP
Angio-Associated Migratory Cell Protein. A 52-kD evolutionally conserved protein which contains an immunoglobulin-like domain and a heparin binding consensus motif and other motifs, and which has a striking evolutionary relationship with the YCR072c protein in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. AAMP appears to be involved in the regulation of capillary-like structures (endothelial tubes) formed in vitro by human umbilical vein endothelial cells cultured on Matrigel, a basement membrane material. Blockade of AAMP inhibits smooth muscle cell migration and neointima formation in accelerated atherosclerosis. Decreased cellular production of total AAMP increases endothelial cell migration, whereas a blockade of extracellular AAMP by means of antibodies decreases migration.Normal expression Endothelial cells, cytotrophoblasts
