Nartkala

(until 1967, Dokshukino), a city (since 1955); center of Urvanskii Raion, Kabarda-Balkar ASSR. Railroad station (Dokshukino) on the Prokhladnyi-Nal’chik branch line, 32 km northeast of Nal’chik. Population, 20,000 (1972). The city has a chemical combine, a cannery, a winery, a tire-repair plant, a plant producing reinforced-concrete items, gravel and corngrading plants, and a garment factory.
