Kuiliutau

Kuiliutau

(Kuiliuto), a mountain range in Central TienShan, in the Kirghiz SSR.

The range lies between the Kuiliu and UchkeP rivers of the Sarydzhaz basin. It is about 50 km long and rises to an elevation of 5,203 m. The Kuiliutau Range is composed of limestones, metamorphic shales, and granites. Its terrain is mountain-glacial, with considerable contemporary glaciation. Outside the areas covered by glaciers and neve fields, rocky-talus, mountaintundra, and mountain-meadow landscapes predominate. In the deep gorges and on the northern slope of the Kuiliu Valley are spruce forests.
