Olenegorsk

a city (until 1957, a settlement) in Murmansk Oblast, RSFSR, under jurisdiction of the Monchegorsk city soviet. Railroad station (Olen’ia) 112 km south of Murmansk. Population, 24,000 (1974). Olenegorsk has an ore-dressing combine at which iron ores for the metallurgical plant in Cherepovets (Vologda Oblast) are mined and dressed. There is production of building materials.
