Kul’dzhuktau

 

a monadnock range in the central part of the Kyzylkum Desert. Length, approximately 100 km; width, up to 15 km; maximum elevation, 785 m. The southern slopes are gentle and dissected by dry canyons, and the northern slopes are rocky and precipitous. The range is composed mainly of crystal-line shales and limestones; along the rim, there are Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Paleogenic sedimentary strata, covered in some places by winnowed sands.
