Kulja Plain
Kulja Plain
a plain in western China. It includes the valley of the upper Hi River and the valleys at the base of the Borokhoro and Ketmen ranges. Elevations range from 670 to 800 m and the annual precipitation totals about 225 mm. Meadow steppes prevail in the Hi Valley and mixed-grass vegetation covers the piedmont valleys. A large part of the plain has been brought under cultivation through irrigation (orchards and field crops) and is densely populated. The major cities are Kulja and Suiting.
