Monts Dore

a group of extinct volcanoes in the Massif Central of France. They include a number of lava cones destroyed by erosion, the largest of which is Puy de Sancy (1,886 m). The Monts Dore last erupted in the Neocene. There are traces of ancient glaciation. Small pine forests and mountain meadows and shrubs grow on the volcanoes. Sheep are raised.
