Kulpo
Kulpo
an archaeological remain in northeastern Korea (Hamgyong-pukto province, People’s Democratic Republic of Korea). It was excavated in 1963 by To Yu-ho and other Korean archaeologists. It is actually a shell mound containing cultural levels from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, and the Bronze Age. Of the two Paleolithic levels, the upper one probably dates from the Upper Paleolithic, and the lower one from the Mousterian epoch. Crudely flaked stone implements, cores, and quartz flakes were found.
