Kumanovo

(ko͞o`mänôvô), town (1994 pop. 94,589), North Macedonia. Located in the center of a tobacco-growing region, its major industries are tobacco processing and canning. The Serbs won a decisive victory over the Turks at Kumanovo in 1912.

a city in Yugoslavia, in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia. Population, 46,000 (1971). It evolved in connection with the construction of a railroad. Kumanovo’s industries include tobacco curing, the production of ceramic articles and pipes, and various crafts. Asbestos is mined near the city.
