Kum-Gang
Kum-Gang
a river in the southwestern Korean Peninsula, in South Korea. The Kum-gang is 401 km long and drains an area of 10,000 sq km. It rises on the western slopes of the Sobaeksanmaek, flows through the Chonju Plain, and empties into the Yellow Sea, forming an estuary. The river is used for irrigation, mainly of rice fields, and is navigable in its lower course for a distance of 103 km for ships of up to 2,000 tons displacement. The seaport of Kunsan is located at its mouth.
