Kunama

 

Baza, Bazin, Badin, a people living in northwestern Ethiopia. Population, about 40,000 (1967, estimate). The language of the Kunama belongs to the Sudanic language phylum. Most of the Kunama profess Islam, but some are Protestant Christians. Ancient traditional beliefs have also been retained. The Kunama are primarily engaged in growing corn, sorghum, and other crops and in raising cattle.
