minimal risk level

minimal risk level

An Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) estimate of daily human exposure to a hazardous substance at or below which that substance is unlikely to pose a measurable risk of adverse, noncancerous effects. Minimal risk levels are calculated over a specified time period (acute, intermediate or chronic), and are derived when reliable and sufficient data exist to identify the target organ(s) of effect or the most sensitive health effect(s) for a specific duration via a given route of exposure (e.g., inhalation or oral).
