Kungrad

a city (the settlement of Zheleznodorozhnyi until 1969) in Kara-Kalpak ASSR. Located in the Amu Darya delta on the left bank of the river. It has a railroad station on the Chardzhou-Beineu line. Population, 11,000 (1970). Industry includes railroad transport enterprises, as well as compressor stations for the Bukhara-Ural and Middle Asia-Central Zone main gas pipelines. The city has a branch of the Muinak fishery and a dairy.
