Kunitz, Stanley

Kunitz, Stanley (Jasspon)

(1905– ) poet, editor; born in Worcester, Mass. He studied at Harvard (B.A. 1926; M.A. 1927), and taught at many institutions, notably Columbia beginning in 1967. He is known for his finely crafted poetry, as in Poems 1928–1978 (1979), and his editorship of reference works on American and European literature.
