Ku-omboka

Usually February or MarchKu-omboka, which means "getting out of the water," is a floodtime festival observed by the Lozi people of Zambia. When the Zambezi River begins its annual flooding of the BarotzÉ flood plains, thousands of boats and canoes, led by the chief on his royal barge, make their way to higher ground. When the Lozi reach their new seasonal home at Limulunga, they celebrate with singing and dancing. In July, when the floods have receded, they return to the lowlands.
