An NHS initiative launched in 2011, which provides a single overarching framework for leadership development of staff at any stage in their career, not just those in senior leadership roles, with links to the core dimensions of the knowledge and skills foundation, especially the dimension on management.
The NHS LF provides a consistent approach to leadership development for staff irrespective of discipline, role or function, and represents the foundation of leadership behaviour throughout the NHS. Fundamental to leadership development is a desire to build on existing leadership frameworks used by different staff groups, and create a single overarching framework for all NHS staff.
