Bad Nauheim

A mineral spa in the Federal Republic of Germany (Hesse), located 38 km north of Frankfurt am Main on the Usa River of the Main river system. The climate is temperate, with average January temperatures of -0.4° C, average July temperatures of 18.5° C, and an annual precipitation of about 700 mm. Bad Nauheim features naturally carbonated mineral waters containing iron and sodium chloride, used for bathing, inhalation, and drinking; mud-bath therapy (fango); and in September and October, grape cures. Bad Nauheim offers treatments for cardiovascular disorders, ailments of the motor organs and of the peripheral and central nervous systems, gynecological ailments, metabolic disturbances, bronchial asthma, chronic upper-respiratory ailments, gastrointestinal and liver disorders, and ailments of the biliary tract. The spa has sanatoriums, facilities for inhalation and radioemanation treatments, the Institute of Diagnostic Medicine, the Zander-Institute, mud-bath rooms, and hotels. The spa is open all year.
