life-extending diet life-extending diet A general term for dietary manoeuvres that are believed to slow the ageing process. Central to a life-extending diet is caloric restriction—up to 40% less than is now considered normal—while maintaining adequate levels of essential macronutrients (i.e., protein, fats and carbohydrates) and micronutrients (i.e., minerals and vitamins).
