Kurtlak

 

a river in Volgograd and Rostov oblasts, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Chir river (Don Basin). Length, 150 km; basin area, 2,760 sq km. The Kurtlak flows through a hilly steppe terrain and is fed mainly by snow. In high water from March to May and steadily in low water in the summer, the Kurtlak River is used for irrigation.
