Kuvasai

a city (until 1954, a settlement) in Fergana Oblast, Uzbek SSR. Located 22 km southeast of Fergana. Railroad station on the Margilan-Kyzyl-Kiia branch of the Kokand-Andizhan line. Population, 14,000 (1970). The city has a large building-materials combine and the coal-fired Kuvasai State Regional Electric Power Plant, which began producing power in 1939.
