Kuvaszan ancient breed of Hungarian sheep dog of Asian origin. It is similar in appearance to European sheep dogs, such as the Great Pyrenees, Abruzzi, and the Yugoslav and Slovak shepherds. The male’s height at the shoulder reaches 75 cm. The fur is thick and up to 4-6 cm in length (longer on the ears and tail); it is white. The Kuvasz is a strong, vicious, and distrustful dog, but the behavioral type has been balanced. In the Middle Ages the Kuvasz was used in hunting large hoofed and predatory animals.
