NHS Security Management Service
An NHS service established in 2003, responsible for the security of NHS staff and property in England, the remit of which is to protect NHS staff from violence and abuse, act against those who abuse, or attempt to abuse, NHS staff, and to help ensure the security of NHS property, facilities, equipment and other resources such as drugs.The NHS Security Management Service works with the Department of Health, NHS bodies, NHS professionals, trade unions and other bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive, with the intention that over time, increased security will allow more money and time to be invested to make real and lasting improvements in protecting NHS staff and NHS property.
