Moorish architecture
Moorish architecture (500–900)Prevalent in Spain and Morocco, the style was influenced by Mesopotamian brick and stucco techniques with frequent use of the horseshoe arch, along with Roman marble columns and limestone carved capitals. Vaults developed into highly complex ornate forms. Brick was used decoratively and structurally in combination with marble, with extensive use of stucco to build up the richly molded surfaces, painted with bright colors and sometimes gilded.
