Lufira

a river in Zaire, a right tributary of the Lualaba River, which is the upper course of the Congo (Zaire) River. Length, approximately 500 km; basin area, approximately 50,000 sq km. The river is full of rapids, and there is flooding during the summer rains, from October to March. The Franqui and Bia hydro-electric power plants, with a total capacity of more than 100 megawatts, are situated on the Lufira River.
