Kyzyl-Kiia
a city (settlement until 1938) in Osh Oblast, Kirghiz SSR, along the southern border of the Fergana Valley. Its railroad station is the terminus of a branch line from the Fergana ring. Population, 32,000 (1970). One of Kirghizia’s oldest coal-mining centers, the city also has a tobacco-curing plant, a creamery, a meat-packing plant, a building-materials combine (refractories), and a footwear factory. Educational institutions include a mining technicum and a medical school.
