Küçük Menderes

a river in western Turkey. Length, 130 km; basin area, approximately 3,500 sq km. Rising on the southern slopes of the Boz Daglar, it flows mainly along a plain and empties into the Gulf of Ku§ada of the Aegean Sea. The river carries a great deal of suspended alluvial deposits. The ruins of the ancient Greek city of Ephesus are located near the mouth.
